Lagos, Monday, May 26, 2025. The Canonical Visitation of the General Government of the Claretian Missionaries to the Claretians of the Delegation West Nigeria, has started in earnest with the arrival yesterday of the General Visitor in the person of VR Br. Carlos Horacio Antonio Verga Vicente, CMF. Br Carlos is the Prefect of Youth and Vocation Ministry in the Congregation of Missionaries Sons of the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary. He has already hit the ground running as he is today, and presently, visiting in and around all the Activities, Residences and Houses in the Curia Community, the primero uno, expectedly, of all the Local Communities in the Organism. He is duly accompanied in this singular mission by the Delegation’s Major Superior and the Major Econome.
Accordingly, on this same day, the General Visitor was able to visit all the Missions and Apostolates of the Delegation within the Curia Community which include the former Curia in Ojodu, the Clotet Product factory, the Delegation Shopping Mall; St Sabina Idi-Mangoro; St Gerald’s Gbagada; Our Lady Queen of Apostles Oyelowo and the Communication House Isolo. The Visit is really what it is: to reawaken our Missionary Vocation and Charism and Animate the Claretian lives of the members.
To cap the two-days visit, the train moved the following day to the new Curia House in Ajao for a Plenary of the Community with Br Carlos, the General Visitor. That’s on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. The Encounter started with the Mass at 11am led by the Superior of the Community, Fr Marcellinus Rebecca Offor-Igirigi, CMF. Br Carlos was the homilist. He encouraged the Community members to continue in their great collaboration with the Major Superior. He thanked God for the procurement of a new home for the Delegation Curia. The Mass ended with the official blessing of the edifice by the Chief Celebrant.
The meeting began immediately after the blessing of the House, moderated by Br Carlos Verga. The plenary proceeded on usual protocols. The General Visitor then launched into the discourse on the reason for every Canonical Visit by the General Government. It’s about Animation through meetings, courtesy visits, dialogues and other personal encounters. It is an on-the-spot assessment initiative where the Visitor participates in the routine life of the Organism. Thus, it is an important activity whereby the General Government, through the delegated personnel, truly participates and gets really intimate with individual members, every Community and each Organism of the Congregation.
The third leg of the day’s event was the celebration of the Birthday Anniversary of the Major Superior, VR Fr Augustine Medaiyedu, CMF. What a blessing. Everyone shared memorable encounters with Fr Augustine and prayed for God’s blessings upon him. Several words of gratitude to God also from the celebrant for the miracle of having a new Curia House for the Delegation.
The Canonical Visitation to the Curia Community ended with lunch, enduring exchanges and sharing of gifts. To God be the glory!
We are happy to welcome him in our midst.
Continuous developments will be updated here. Stay connected.
