Beloved Brothers,

Peace of Christ.

It has been a very difficult tearful day for me and all of us the members of the West Delegation of Nigeria. It was about 7:45am  I received a call from St. Raphael’s specialist Hospital where our Brother, Fr Paul has been for the past 9 months, that he has passed-on.

He was in crisis yesterday night and our brothers working in St. Augustine’s Parish went to visit him in the hospital. However, from the Hospital very early today, I received the most devastating call in my life.

This is sad dear brothers. Our brother Fr. Paul fought very hard to survive. God knows the best. We have received calls from the Fr. General condoling and assuring us of his closeness and prayers. Bishops W. Anagbe and H. Dachelem have also sent their condolences. VRF. S. Nwaobi, called to feel with us. We have received WhatsApp condolence messages from all the Claretian Provincial and Major superiors all over the world.

I must admit that it is very difficult to be at the center of this. We condole and comfort ourselves believing that God will rest our Brother Paul who suffered so much on earth with Heavenly peace.

We will be having a requiem mass on Friday at 5pm in St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, Ikorodu. This is purely a Claretian affair and so we request for the presence of all our brothers working in Lagos and its environs at the Mass.

We are proposing having the funeral at Ibefun, tentatively scheduled for the 30th, May, for the vigil Mass, and 31st of May, 2018, the funeral Mass.

We are asking all our communities to celebrate requiem Masses for Fr Paul on  this Friday, the 18th, and pray the Office of the Dead during the Vespers same day.

MAY THE SOUL OF OUR BROTHER FR PAUL MARIO EKECHUKWU, CMF REST IN PEACE AMEN.

FR Daniel M. Onyeayana

Major Superior.
