Ikorodu Lagos, July 21, 2023. Claretian Academy Ewu-owa, Ikorodu, Lagos, celebrated her graduation on the 21th July, 2023. The students were beautifully dressed and full of smiles, recalling the days they had spent in the schools studying. They were likewise excited that they have passed a stage in life, as they mounted the rostrum, one after another, to receive their well-deserving school-leaving testimonial, and individual awards of excellence.

The programme began with the Holy Mass followed by an academic procession – a traditional ceremony in which the graduating students marched together with the School Manager Rev. Fr. Terseer Ubi CMF, the Principal of the College, Mr. Henry Nwachukwu, the Headmaster Mr. Ephram Anyanwu and teachers of various graduating classes.

During his opening speech, the Manager, Fr Ubi congratulated the grandaunts and their parents on the momentous occasion and appreciated their involvement in their children’s learning. He complimented the graduates on their achievements, also congratulated the teachers for their dedication and hard work in shaping the students through quality education and other co-curricular activities. He declared the graduation day open.

Other events were a musical ensemble, performance of the Claretian jubilee anthem by students of the academy and a dance performance. Pupils and students from various classes who did excellently well were given prizes by the Guests of Honour on behalf of the school.

The Head-boy, Daniel Ezema, in his speech, acknowledged the peculiarities of his classmates, how they were able to graduate in flying colours amidst various challenges. The Head-girl, Nestor Clementina, in her own speech, appreciated the feat describing it as well deserved. Her parting words were, “Look out for us in the near future, and a big THANK YOU to the Claretian Academy for showing us the right path to follow”

The program ended with a vote of thanks by the School Manager, who also led the closing prayer.

The Claretian Missionaries are a Religious Congregation founded by Saint Anthony Mary Claret. They aim, among other things, to spread the message of the Gospel to the entire humanity using all means possible. Education, especially of the young ones, is at the heart of the mission of these Missionaries, Sons of the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
