DELEGATION WEST NIGERIA ORDAINS A PRIEST AND FOUR DEACONS

“What a huge harvest! And how few the harvest hands. So on your knees; ask the God of the Harvest to send harvest hands.” (THE MESSAGE, Luke 10:2)

That’s exactly what happened on Sunday, September 2, 2018.

The entire members of the Claretian Missionaries Delegation West Nigeria gathered with their lay Claretians, friends and benefactors at the Claret House of Theology, Elerumoke, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria to respond to the call of giving more ‘harvest hands’ to the Lord’s huge harvest.

The occasion was the ordination of a Claretian priest Fr John Useni Gabriel and four Claretian deacons Revds Philipmario Agada, Timothy Terlumun Amaku, Paul Eneojo Ameh and Jude Akaluzia Ofuani.

The ordaining prelate, Most Rev. Gabriel ‘Leke Abegunrin, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Ibadan, enjoined those ordained to always bear in mind that their elevation to different Orders of the Church, more than office, are for service. The underpinning character, therefore, of each of them must be guided by what the Master Himself echoed: non ministrari sed ministrare. I have come, not to be served, but to serve (cf. Matt 20:28). He also asked those who were at the service, especially, the faithful to pray always for their clergy collectively and individually.
