DELEGATION’S TEMPORARY PROFESSED RENEW THEIR VOWS

Theology House, Ibadan, Nigeria: September 07, 2022. On this date, six Claretian students renewed their Vows at the Claret House of Theology, Elerumoke, Ibadan, Nigeria. The renewal of vows is a yearly ceremony in which temporarily professed members of a Religious Institute, Order, or Congratulation re-consecrate themselves by professing the Evangelical Counsels of CHASTITY, POVERTY, and OBEDIENCE. In other words, it is an ongoing commitment, or rather, a reaffirmation of their initial commitment to the evangelical counsels.

The event was preceded by a retreat—September 1 to 6—moderated by Rev. Fr. Sunday Ogom, CMF.

“This day is set aside for the renewal of our commitment to God,” echoed the Major Superior, Very Rev. Fr. Augustine Medaiyedu, CMF, during the homily. Quoting Archbishop Gabriel Leke Abegunrin of Ibadan Archdiocese, the Major Superior emphasised that as religious men, “we are not breadwinners but grace-winners for our families and friends.” However, for each and everyone of us, every day is a day for renewal. Accordingly, as in the Gospels, Jesus underlines the attitude (The Beatitudes) we must cultivate daily in order to be in union with him, affirmed the Delegation Superior.

The six students that renewed their vows were:
A. From the West Nigeria Delegation
ADEGOKE Adesola Anthony, CMF;
FALAJIKI Oluwabusayo Andrew, CMF and,
OGBETE Chukwuebuka Kingsley, CMF

B. From Independent Delegation of Cameroon
CHANGA Styve Blondel, CMF;
LIMALEBA Rostan Hugues, CMF and,
NGWAME Victory.

Rev. Frs. Innocent Daniel (Prefect of Apostolate), John Paul Achi (Delegation Econome), Paul Ameh (Delegation Secretary), Sunday Ogom (Retreat Moderator), and Anthony Agugo (Assistant Prefect of Students) were among the Claretian Missionaries from the Delegation present at the occasion.
