Elerumoke, Ibadan, Nigeria: September 08, 2022. Our students from different Organisms, at the Claret House of Theology, Ibadan, took their Initial and Final steps towards Perfect Charity, in the Claretian Congregation, as they undertook their respective Evangelical Vows. Through Religious Profession of Vows, an individual embraces the Religious State by the three Evangelical Vows of POVERTY, CHASTITY and OBEDIENCE. The Initial Vow, or Temporary Profession, is renewed periodically in preparation for Final Vows or Perpetual Profession.
The Mass for the Profession, which commemorated the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, was presided over by the Major Superior of the Delegation West Nigeria, VRFr Augustine Medaiyedu, CMF. The homilist at the event, Rev. Fr. John-Paul Achi, CMF (the Delegation Econome) encouraged the parents and friends of the professandi to assist them as they answer the unique call to the Religious Life, which has numerous conjunctural challenges. And, referencing the Marian Feast of the day, a special day Claretians are majorly consecrated to her Immaculate Heart, Fr. Achi enjoined everyone to always rely on our Mother Mary to help obtain the graces we need in moments of difficulties and challenges.
In the presence of the people of God, five students of our Delegation, made their First Religious Profession after the mandatory one-year at the Heart of Mary Novitiate, Utonkon. Their final preparation was a week retreat in Ibadan, moderated by Rev. Fr. Sunday Ogom, CMF.
